About Emeline Preschool

Emeline Preschool Center (EPC) serves children ages 2–5 years in Santa Cruz, California. We provide high-quality play-based learning for up to 23 children a day in a safe, cozy atmosphere. We are open Monday through Friday from 7:30am–5:30pm.

Our caring, qualified teachers meet or exceed state licensing requirements in Early Childhood Education and we strive to keep the child to teacher ratio as low as possible for personalized care.  Families are valued as an integral part of the Emeline Preschool community. We believe that through involving the parents as much as possible we can create a positive and rewarding first “school” experience for your child.

Some features of Emeline Preschool include:

Sliding Scale Fees

Fees are based on a family’s combined gross monthly income and number of family members in a low, middle, and upper income level tier.

Low Child to Teacher Ratio

Our skilled teaching staff is a teacher/child ratio of 1:4 in the Two’s Room, and a 1:8 in the Preschool and Pre-K classrooms. Teachers plan thematic and emergent curriculum that connect with the children’s daily experiences.

Morning and Afternoon Snacks

Nutritious snacks are served in the morning and afternoon. Parents provide children lunches and are encouraged to visit the center. Many join their children for lunch.

Three Classes for 2’s, 3’s, & 4’s

Parent Involvement Program

Because EPC is a non-profit organization and operates on a sliding fee scale, we need your help in providing the best possible program. We encourage parents to put in a minimum of one hour per month toward the operation and upkeep of the center. In our experience, more parental involvement leads to a richer the experience for everyone involved.
